Good photo of her with the band on her music page, some nice sounds too. I should hunt out some of her music. Did they do any other tracks with the UBs?

"Sufferin' (My People)" or "I Want People" was the only release with Nya & Natty (Nya Azania & Barbara Naps). Barbara Naps did join the band on tour. Some other titles were mentioned in the official UB40 InfoCo newsletter but never saw the light of day. I asked Nya for information, to maybe publish eventually with a new version of the discography book, on how they got to record with UB40.

Excerpt:

Quote:
Some of us went on to form another band, gigging and continuing to rehearse and perform. Around this time I met “Natty (Barbara Naps) and we started singing together.

One of the members of the band was the brother of “Locksley Gichie,” guitarist from the Cimarons (Jamaican natives who migrated to Britain in 1967) and their friend, Lesley Palmer an Agent, who were instrumental in us meeting UB40.

Part of our musical efforts included projects within the local community. In 1981 it was concluded the community needed a Music Complex for youths and adults. We needed to do a series of workshops in schools and youth centres throughout our local area to show the necessity for the complex and to get local authority/government approval & funding,

The project was successful and The Music Complex (called BBMC - British Black Music Complex) still stands today in London NW10.

At one of these events members of UB40 came, saw what we were doing, and a relationship was formed. We were invited to go on tour with them and, a number of members went, including Natty, but I was unable not go.

...

Soon after we went to Ireland there is where we recorded the three tracks together “Suffering” “Here I come” & “Well Charged” produced by UB40 and later released on the “DEP International' label”

Write to Universal/EMI... they have the masters. Unreleased, stashed away.
