Default BT - Would You Ever Sell Out ??

To have another 'hit record' ??

Hi BT/all,

Was having a thought earlier and thinking about all the 'Reggae' artists that have sold out over the last few years to have another 'hit record',

Shaggy
Sean Paul
Wayne Wonder
Inner Circle

Can you name anymore ?, only artists like Beres Hammond have been keepin it real for the masses, so, BT, would you ever do the same just so UB40 could have one more record at number 1 ?.

Respect as always,

Aaron.

P.S - BT, when we gonna get to hear 'On The Other Hand' lol

Have the above artists sold out?

The music business is a hard business to make a living - any time, especially these days.

I look forward to Brian s reply to your question.

love jx

There are some people that would say thats what we have always done..don't tell anyone but I think its just jealousy and you are spot on..No..i don't think we have it in us..Afterall we told Sharon Stone "No..you cant come on stage and sing Cant Help falling in Love at the Universal Ampitheatre Hollywood" Im not going to tell you the litany of commercial paydays we have passed up in favour of holding our heads up but..there have been some biggies. And I' should add Im not totally sure what 'sell out " means...its hard to get a hit record, and we all have the right to change our mind regards what kind of music we make...I suppose letting your music be used in advertising for big bucks is selling out..anyway..ill be back when I've thought more about it..

Default Selling out!!

Thanks for your thoughts so far,

by 'selling out' i mean take a listen to all the above mentioned artists earlier releases/albums/singles and they are what i call 'proper reggae', roots and lovers stuff not all this r&b/hip hop/drum & bass/dancehall type stuff, to me they have been told to change there style so the 'masses' will listen more to there recordings and appeal to a wider audience instead of keeping it real and honest, like you said BT, i'm sure you've never let anyone tell you which style to play in just to be more commercial ?.

Respect,

Aaron.

Fi, you are jealous cuz I can rap and you cannot! It's very unbecoming!

yeh, I can always have hope that they'll add it to the set, very doubtful they'd ever add it to set in the US though....
