WHAT THE F*CK?!! Just when I thought he had scraped the bottom...

HE left, he has been gone for 6 years now, he has repeatedly publicly badmouthed all remaining members of UB40, he has consistantly lied to the public and continues to do so, he has continuously used the name fraudulently, he has not legally made claim to the name (that we know of) in 6 years, and now he's going to try to use it outright?!?! I hope that they sue his bloody a$$ off.

He is, and was, nothing without the name.

Whatever dispute there is between them should be kept between them and/or the courts. His public hatred and continual attempts to ruin his family and life friends is actually getting disturbing.

Absolutely classless.

How incredibly pathetic.

im in no doubt they are pissed,,,but they do have the advantage of a major record company on their side,, which might help,in any legal situation..
but who knows.....im sure they will say something..in due time.
its a bit like poker,,sometimes its better to keep your cards close to your chest, and by saying nothing, it keeps the others guessing.....

it takes more than 2 has been voices and a middle of the road keyboard player to reproduce the sound of UB40.

BBC News - UB40 founding members reform to record a new album

So according to this BBC report "UB40" have reformed, signed to Cooking Vinyl record label (who released Ali's "Great British Songs" album) and that they are currently recording a new album.

WTF? This is really going to confuse people or get the hopes up of others.

We're all under the assumption that THIS true, proper, not-a-rip-off UB40 are playing the Alban Arena in April. Who knows what they think though, they're probably as confused as the rest of the world. There was a link to another gig - from those who AREN'T UB40 from the BBC page, advertised as UB40. I commented

To respond to Don - I'm sure most of us on here wish that when Ali had gone his own way, he had once and for all disassociated himself with UB40 and never mentioned the word again. Unfortunately, we all know how he's carried on since it became increasingly obvious that he couldn't forge a solo career since a) no one in the outside world knew who the hell he was and b) his solo material wasn't strong enough, hence the ever increasing inclusion of UB/UB related output on the setlists.

It would have been great not to have to deal with this year on year but we are all entitled to support the guys whose music we have loved for over 30 years, and more importantly, to say so. Have you spared a thought for how they feel right now? They're musicians, not legal experts. They should be making music and planning tours, not courtroom appearances.

Too many people have no value system anymore, let alone know what morals are. That's the mainstay of the problem, from the we-are-not-UB40-but-we-want-to-be and their few equally worthless followers.

I thought that Aldi's album was meant to be already ready for release this month
