Default NIGHT OF THE PROMS

Hi there,

Is this worth checking out? Has anyone been to this previously? Does UB40 do their own stuff or is it a collaboration with other artists? Pardon my ignorance and all.....may be in Europe around this time and figure I should squeeze in as many UB40 gigs in as I can.

As far as I know UB40 plays 5 songs, and they are playing with an orchestra. The rest are other artists (dont know who)

You can check out www.ahoy.nl there is an english section.

Think as headliners of the show UB's will perform last? At least they did a few years ago... Might be different now, i don't know, but probably (hopefully) there will be a grande finale again with all artists doing one song together (like last time they did All you needs is love, and all artist did their part in their own style).

Other artist that i know will be there are:
Tony Henry (opera singer from UK)
Tears for Fears
Ruth Jacott (local artist, but nice voice)

Personally i think Night of the Proms is great. Mix of classical music with pop and/or reggae. And all the artists are backupped with a great orchestra and chorus. So yeah, i think it's worth your while to go at least once. Must admitt though, that if you are only into the the reggae scene, it might not quite be your thang...

I have been there the last time UB40 performed at NOTP and I have to say that UB40 was the only reason I went there.
Of course they did great but I will not go there this time. (It will never come close to the gig in the Heineken Music Hall July 5)
