That was interesting.

I can't understand why the UK hasn't evolved.

not much Nani imho

no Jim didnt see that clip befor.

I was very interested in the hard hat one... seeing as the place where i work are buying random hard hats to see which one fits in our workplace.... and no i dont work in the construction or building industries, but in a warehouse where the only thing that can fall on my head is the roof... and if that happened i dont think a little plastic hats gonna help very much lol

As for the CSA i know im not alone in that one and many thousands of people were and are being screwed by them. thankfully for me that is all history and being forgotten. Good luck to those still suffering... including the children.

It should be remembered that, historically, most of the top EU countries are more socialist than britain. While we had maggie destroying unions and workers rights, germany and france and holland etc were building there society around the need for better conditions and pay for their workers.

One of the reasons that germany has a more healthy economy than most other countries is because there society has been built around the needs of their workers, who are represented in the boardroom, influence government decisions, and even sit on the executive remuneration committees.

The french, who like to spend time with there families rather than on the factory floor, had the shortest working hours in the EU. And their welfare state is much more generous than britains, there schools and hospitals are much better than here.

that's why so many of the rules and regulations in coming from the EU are to try and prevent unscrupulous employees from exploiting there workers. Health and safety rules are there to protect the working conditions of people who would otherwise be little more than slaves.

I don't get it.

why a working man [or woman] would stand shoulder to shoulder with the tories in trying to repeal the human rights act is a mystery to me. I can only think that they believe the right-wing propaganda spewed out by reactionary press.

we need europe as a civilizing influence in this country.

otherwise the right-wing business community and the reactionary newspaper owners would have us all be SLAVES.

we need MORE regulation, not less.
Well said Jimmy!!! Germany and France have resisted the temptation to sacrifice their working conditions on the alter of "competitiveness".They have had the wisdom to realise that cost isn't the only criterion to consider when it comes to being competitive. They choose to compete on the grounds of quality rather than cost. That's why both countries have robust manufacturing sectors whereas ours has been destroyed.
