yeah it's usually the case that the best position is in the first week. and i think 24 was fab considering it isn't a 'best of' or 'greatest hits' style album.

its not worth that spot... such a great album... how can music be so commercial? I think people now a days have lost their souls... no body has time for their souls... even for music which needs a minute to be felt from soul... discotheque music has ruined it...

Interesting how LOL IV and Very Best Of are in the top 100. All I know is that no matter the chart position, timing of release or whatever, you rarely if ever see a Reggae band with a new album getting up like this, not just in the UK but all over. Those damned 200+ downloads not counted in the official charts even show the interest in UB40 remains high. Please keep the faith people, keep the faith. Please keep the faith Virgin, keep the faith. North American release to come. Nobody does it like UB40, nobody.
One Love,
Bagga........

And let's not forget the thousands of people filling up venues to see the band. It's a big world of Reggae love out there for UB40.

For a band to get an album to number 24 after 30 years in the business is a remarkable feat, no question. Has there been any others?
I am just chuffed that they are still producing reggae music of an extremely high quality.
They have gone through 30 years of all kinds of opinions from the so called music intelligentsia, reggae purist sniping, etc.
Fair play is what I would say.
I remember the music paper plaudits on the release of signing off, pretty much the same for present arms, the stick for present arms in dub because they were said to copying the great Jamaican dub engineers, absolute stick when Labour of Love first came out (look what happened there) and just about everything that could be said has been said since then, the good, bad and indifferent.
The fact is they are still doing the same thing, making music, selling music, playing live shows and taking no notice.
Again, fair play to 'em and I am proud they are a household Birmingham name.
I have sat in bars in London, New york, Amsterdam when thier music has been put on the juke box and I have felt proud. I have even been sat in a car in Maui scoring some good old Lambs Bread when they come on the car radio, you know what, the Hawaiian geezer sat thier and sang Red, Red Wine word for word while he rolled, and it make me think of home. Great memories, and that is what good music does, it can take you back to places that live in your memory, these moments stay with you forever.
