Default wolverhampton civic hall... a loonies tale

left for wolves around 4:20, finally got there at around half 5, met up with michele, neps, jane, marg all waiting patiently outside
after a while mini crump and jo turned up.

at 6:45 the first set of doors opened, i was just behind neps at the front, being loonies we covered all the doors at 7 when the inner doors opened neps ticket wouldn't scan, so i was sent back to where i was then i was scanned after a slight delay, and got inside, next to neps......front centre, my rightful position had been re claimed

kid british came on again and did another decent set

this is such a great album that it;s impossible to ever have too much off it, the whole band were again loving the chance to revisit these timeless tunes
the rhythm from earls bass, jimmys drums and normans percussion once again brought an extra dimension to the ub40 sound that they don't normally have the luxury to explore when they play a regular set, rbcs little guitar solos, and the great new brass arrangements that bt, loz and martin have worked on make these classic songs an even bigger joy to hear again
tony as ever was having a ball, and duncans voice just suits this album, also duncs on the bodhran has been a master stroke, the instrument really adds a new depth to an already outstanding percussion in these tunes, the signing off set itself was worth the ticket price alone

after a 10 minute break ub40 came back on stage to one of their best ever self penned songs, they ran through a mini greatest hits set with a couple of tunes from labour of love 4 thrown in..... the bond ub40 share with the audience is unique they feed off each other, and the atmosphere is always wonderful
highlight of the second set actually started with animal
towards the end of the hits set animal from the audiences right hand side of the stage threw a bottle of water which i think michele or marg got....then he threw another towards jane in janes attempt to catch the water she proceeded to display the most hilarious juggling act both neps and i had probably ever seen
once again the set was changed slightly, with a different tune added, then all too soon it was over
ub40 can do no wrong, and this tour is going to go down as one of the ones that you simply had to go to it is faultless, they are well and truly in their comfort zone and they just keep getting better with every performance

at the end of the show luci came along to say hi, everyone was pleased to see her, but she hadn't brought any cakes....we went home hungry and destitute was lovely to see you again, and i keep my word i wont tell anyone you sneaked into the brum show the night before
thanks to ub40 and the loonies for yet another memorable night
I never said it was your fault!
I'm just going to blame you!

Nice review Eamonn, now head south to London village, see you Sat...
But after a short time watching what you do,
I realise that I should strive to be like you.

Another cracking review Eamonn thank you
I'm a British subject not proud of it while I carry the burden of shame.
