Kevin Turvey was my first introduction to Rik Mayall. Wonderfully talented, taken far too soon

i am slightly gutted, he was a comedy hero of mine. and becuase i could do impersonations of him, vivian and niel from the young ones, i got a fair few free drinks in a dutch bar in majorca, i was just surprised the dutch guys got the humour, but they did, and loved it.

Sometime in the late 80's someone gave me a well copied VHS tape of The Young Ones, saying I might like it.. My friends and I literally wore the tape out (and many bottles of brandy too) watching it over and over and over.... Been following his career ever since and was really shocked to hear he'd passed. but... we still have his poems.

My youngest just shouted "NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Fred really HAS dropped dead."

I think he would appreciate the gallows humour.

Loved rick from back I the days of Kevin turvey.

Such a shame. He was only my age.

Rik and the rest of the Young Ones/Comic Strip etc folks were the first comedians to smash the 'Bernard Manning' school of comedy to pieces. They were a breath of fresh, anarchic air, Rik particularly so.

Not a happy bunny tonight
