Iration Steppas can simply do no wrong in my eyes. They're hugely progressive, technically brilliant and have a deep understanding of dub overall. I'm a huge fan.

Dub is probably the only form of music where, in order for it to be classed as dub, there are actually no rules. It's all completely abstract and open to interpretation by the producer/mixer/artist. It can be as subtle or as over the top as you like. That's the beauty of it for me. Yes, there are approaches which tend to work better than others, but it's all dub. You could take a percussion track, load it with reverbs and delays and just keep the bass line and who's to say that isn't dub? It's a wonderful thing when you're freed up from the relative shackles of mixing a 'song' etc.

Here's my favourite Iration Steppas track. I love the slow build up, so when the hi-hats kick in the track really starts to motor along. Lovely frequency sweeps as well. Mind blowing after a bit of a smoke.... err, apparently

Here's the full length version of the original mix of Scud Missile.

Seriously, this is insane. Love it.

Not on itunes either!!!! Mine for £65 on ebay and trust me I am tempted......

Has that same vibe as a lot of the progressive house stuff I got into in the 90's Fabi Paras, Leftfield,Weatherall etc.

It goes back to what you were saying about dub not having any constraints. Just sit back and enjoy.
