I really enjoy a wide genre of music and really love it when a song I like receives a reggae makeover. Does anyone else have any favourite reggae covers?

I really do think "Maybe Tomorrow" has to be one of the most awesome covers ever...seriously. Or "I'll Be Back". Not coming from a Reggae background and only introduced to it via UB40 in the early 80s; knowing these two songs (particularly) from the original artists as a youth, AND being the musical polar opposite from the original, they are pure genius. Absolutely, genius.

Now, get me started on what I have learned of them since then and especially from my time spent here and with you all...well...no wonder they are the greatest and have us all swooning. Incredible work and absolutely brilliant guys all the way through. :love:

Nice post Ticia.:-DI feel the same way.I don't come from a multi racial area so wasn't really exposed to any reggae before UB40.They introduced me to a whole genre of music that I fell in love with.Mind you,this board is not very good for the ego.I fancied myself as a bit of a reggae expert before I joined.Now I realise I know next to nothing.:lol:Big up all the great reggae educators we have on here.:-D

Reggae covers Ticia ??

My favorite is my matching Bob marley duvet cover and pillow case.

although, my custom made 'Burning Spear' computer carrying case is pretty cool too.

:haha::haha::haha::haha:

Reggae covers Ticia ??:

I see your literal point, JB, but my mind went in it's own unique direction. I'm special that way...:haha:

I love DJ Scotty's rendition of Breakfast In Bed (I also love Lorna Bennett's version). I didn't even know it was Dusty Springfield who did it originally. Hearing the reggae versions made me seek out her's.

Thanks to John Peel for playing Scotty's tune. :-D

Now that's a classy way of abusing the drummer Ticia - you've set a high standard which the rest of us will struggle to match for years to come ...............:evil:

My number one favourite reggae cover of all time, always gets a rewind in my house. Lionel Richie wrote this track for Kenny Rogers!
