Thanks for the info Angel Delight!

Here's a UB Factoid for you all..
Cropredy is a festival that is organised by Fairport Convention.
Two of Fairport Convention's original band members were in a band with Robin & Duncan's Dad, The Ian Campbell Folk Group. They are Dave Pegg and Dave Swarbrick
Swarbrick actually offered to pay for UB40's very first demo tape to be recorded at Dave Pegg's home studio, in Cropredy. Although the offer was never taken up because of the very quick success they achieved, it has never been forgotten..

Hmm, not sure I like the idea of having to buy a ticket for all 3 days as they won't sell single day tickets. And the early bird discounted ones have already been snapped up.

Can we expect a standard UB setlist, or will they be playing some of their new material?

I think by that time we'll be showcasing some new material.

Homely gal - the photos are gorgeous.........I see you have a wide array to model.....in fact I am off to have a wee look again - quite fancy the hoody!

Fingers crossed - have just looked up Banbury Oxfordshire - just as well I looked it up - had planned taking a wee train from London to Oxford (learned from Southampton that I should look at maps........) It looks perfectly brilliant......

as for the deerhunting hijackers.......

Cornbury festival has a new site for 2011 and is not in Cornbury park anymore so no deer:haha:

Cropredy is near Banbury, there is a festival bus that picks up from the bus station and the train station in Banbury and takes people out to the village, it is a tiny village, the village shop makes more money Cropredy weekend than the rest of the year put together.

for those wanting to come thursday only, think about sticking around for the rest of the weekend and seeing some great new music and just having a laugh and chilling out in a field with the best bar and beer:beer:

Aw Ed Tudor-Pole- great guy... mad as a box of frogs and absolutely lovely with it!! :D

Angel Delight.. I think our guys are just wondering why they dont have a choice- not everyone has the time or money to attend all three nights..it's a fair point:king:

Angel Delight - seeing as you know so much about the festival (good that someone does :D) - no one on this site had a chance to purchase the early bird tickets and we can't all commit to either 3 days away, or even paying for the 3 days. I think tickets for all 3 days are 90 (i.e 30 per day), if you know any of the powers that be is there no way some sort of Thursday ticket could be made available, even at 35? The event isn't until August, plenty of time to arrange this and make us loonies very happy, not to mention raise the coffers of the village shops even more :D

Well if you don't ask you don't get

Michele, you could get three loonies that do wanna go but on different days all put to 30 each for ticket, but the downside to that is how would each loonie collect the ticket from the other.

Unfortunately I have no sway with the "powers that be" I wish I did:haha:

I first went in 2003 because some friends of mine had their band booked on the Thurs and I wished then I could get Thurs only tix.

I had it explained to me that since the festival started 40 odd years ago as a re-union gig for the band Fairport Convention, their fans used to come a day early and camp in a local farmers field, then more bands were added, then another day and it grew but they presume that as it is mainly their fans that attend there would not be a reason for them to miss their favourite and the headline act on the Saturday night.

I do agree though as last year a lot of people bought weekend tickets as Status Quo were on the Thursday night, they then left and Friday was very quiet.

This thing about early bird tickets having all gone is not quite right, Fairport offered for people to buy tickets for two weeks in December to avoid the vat hike, the early bird price is between March and June.

The question re thursday tickets is raised every year and the only thing I can suggest is mailing the organisers through the website, I have no sway I am afraid, I am just a happy punter, even more now UB40 are going to be there, can't wait for them to release the Friday line up.

OR... you could ask the boys, Luci, if whoever paid 90.00 to see them on the thursday, if they could do a second show just for them and free? that way more loonies would pay the 90.00 and get two shows out of it :D

the second show could be in someones back garden... someone who had a big enough one obviously and we could have a bbq and beer an stuff...
