Even though I am a smoker, I would like to see it banned in clubs and restaurants.... the amount of fag burns you get in these places, that were not self inflicted are a joke.... some people are just so careless!!!
And what about the ones who put their fags out on the floors of pubs and bars, makes you wonder if they do that at home!!!

I have to admitt I dont like being around the smoke at all. It wouldnt bother me at all if it were banned in public. Really though here in California you cant smoke in restaurants and certain other places. Disneyland is no smoking except for specific smoking areas which there arent many. So it sort of confines it to one space so other people arent bothered by it. maybe thats a better idea.

I'm a smoker, and I agree with banning smoking where there is food.

But give the smokers a break :frown: you get treated like social lepers. I know it's bad for you and the rest but it's my choice to smoke.

I totally agree with you..............But banning it everywhere will just put lots of people out of jobs as smokers just won't bother going to pubs, clubs etc and in turn by doing this businesses will close as there will be no money coming in!!!!

Also we will all end up paying, as smokers may give up smoking and the government will not be getting the money from the taxes on cigarettes and it will just be slapped on in other places so they aren't losing out

I'll get off my soap box now

It is very difficult to answer it. I have stopped smoking 3 years ago. Think it should be banned from restaurants, perhaps there can be a room only for smoking (?) !!

Im for banning it from places where food is served and eaten as a smoker myself i cant stand it when im eating and someone lights up.

As for pubs and clubs i dont think it should be banned totaly there should be provision made for smokers or people just wont bother going out to these places any more.

Although i'm a smoker myself, i absolutely agree. Went to Universal Studios and Seaworld last year and they have some specific smoking areas. I really think this is an absolutely acceptable solution for both smokers and non-smokers!
Also can't stand it when people start smoking while other people are still eating. It's disgusting........................... After reading my own reply i'm just wondering why i'm still smoking

I dont smoke, but my husband does, I think where food is concerned, there should be no smoking, but a place provided for them, but I think it would kill pub and club trade if people couldnt smoke on nights out, so maybe again, a smoking room for them?

Im an ex-smoker. I said yes to the ban, because it will benefit those who don't smoke. however, I believe that people shouldn't be discriminated if they DO.

I think it should be up to the landlord/lady to introduce a smoking policy in their own premises they should not be forced

the ban like everything else will have its good and bad points :smokin:

I am a "reformed smoker" and don't like it when I'm in a pub/ club/ shop etc and have smoke blown into my space. However, I don't agree with a total ban..... :smokin: space should be provided for those that want/ need it.

Difficult one ... I am a smoker but do agree with banning it in public places. I make the decision to smoke but why should those who don't have to breathe in my smoke and smell of it. :smokin:

II hate trying to eat a meal with someone blowing smoke at ya. Also hate walking through a cloud of it to go into a building with everyone gathered outside for a nic-fit.

Don't mind if there is a designated smoking room in a bar or club though. Someplace to go once you've had a few drinks.

Well said.
I too am a smoker, and if you look at it , it is an INFRINGEMENT OF OUR PUBLIC RIGHTS to say that we can't smoke here and can't smoke there.
Where my brother lives there are 2 pubs opposite each other . One went non-smoking and the other never. guess which 1 almost had to close down from lack of sales.
I do agree that food places(cafes, resturaunts) and clothes shops should be non-smoking tho.
How many peeps will just buy their booze from Tesco or Sainsbury etc and take it back home for a drink now because the pubs are non smoking.
On that note . for peoples safety they should ban drinking .
HOW PEEPS END UP IN HOSPITAL OR EVEN DEAD BECAUSE OF DRINK RELATED INCIDENTS?
DOES A PERSON SMOKING MAKE HIM/HER WANT TO BEAT THE SH*T OUT OF SOME ONE THAT LOOKS AT HIM/HER LIKE ALL THE DRUNKS THAT YOU SEE ON A WEEK END?
