Okay all... it took my dear hubby two tries at this last night, but we finally for a copy of the WYFF videos converted to NTSC.

You'll need:
(1) DVD Decrypter software
(2) NERO burning software
(3) DVD-R on your computer
(4) blank DVD

For those wanting to convert PAL to NTSC, download the program. Rip your movie to the hard drive with DVD decrypter. Then open your newly ripped files with VOB blanker. Under the title set block (center of program window), you'll see your VOB files. The center column says "video format". My example says NTSC 4:3 720x480. If you right click on the VOB's you want to convert, then select "video attributes", you'll see a new window pop up. In this window, you can change the "standard" from PAL to NTSC and vice versa. You can even change the resolution in this window.

Do the above, then select or make a new output folder. Click on "process" at the bottom and let the conversion begin. You can then use DVD shrink or any other compression/burning program of your choice to burn your newly converted NTSC or PAL dvd (whichever you chose to convert to).

Thanks a lot, Leah. Now waiting for my cd/dvd to arrive so I can try it. Have DVDshrink, but not Nero. Have to go through my junk to find out what I used to burn something before. The joys of successfully doing something once - and then forgetting what you did.

You can probably use any burning software that's on your system. We used Nero because, well... we have it. :)

Have fun! The videos are well worth the effort. :)

Or you can just put it into dvd shrink and click back up and it it will do everything in one go ?

decrypt it
shrink it
strip the region tag off
and copy it

So I told this to my husband last night, and we tried it... it doesn't do it. It'll copy PAL to PAL, and NTSC to NTSC, but it didn't convert it from PAL to NTSC.

Unless he did something wrong. After a few graemlins/beer.gif , that's always a possibility! lol
