Just thought it might be a good time for a book on the band. I remember reading that Eve and Coco were closing the then Fan Club due to work on a book?

It would be superb I agree !

Certainly about time .I bought the portraits book way back whan I saw them in Leeds and I read it often .
I did see it at E-bay auctions not long back and it had lots of bids so I expect it's difficult to get hold of now.

i've suggested this on several occasions, a book based on the bit in portraits where ub members write short stories giving their side of stories that appeared in the press, or experiences touring and recording they would like to share. bt always replies "can't we just make music ?". fair enough i suppose....but it would be great !

BT has certainly given us a better in sight to the band. It would be fitting if the rest of the band gave similiar experiences and what better wat than in a book.

hi Chronic, hey I was in UB40 Infoco too & when Eve n Coco said they were leaving to write a book about the band I was looking forward to it too. But unfortunately it never seemed to materialise & my newsletters dried up after that. It was tough at the time as we obviously could get little other info on the band at the time from elsewhere. But i found me members badge the other week, I'll wear it at the fest!.......Rick.x

Hi Singerman,

I'll have to try and dig my one out. Do you remember the membership card in the form of a dole card?

Your quite right in what you say about there being a lack of info on the band. Especially when they were not releasing singles/albums or touring.

hey Chronic, yep I remember the attendance card for membership. You had to write a statement on the card & I put that ali was really God in disguise! A bit embarrassing to admit now, & some might think offensive, but I reckon I must have been only 14 or 15, must raid the loft to see if I still have it! rick.x

Yep I've got both the badges somewhere-Will need to try and dig them out. From memory i'm sure that the UB40 fan-club was one of the best value for money fan-clubs.
