I'm wanting to know how a band is chosen to support UB40 when they tour .

Is it up to them...their agent...or the venue ?

My husband plays bass for a band and they have asked me to contact ub40 to see if they can support them at any gig on the next tour. Do I write to DEP? Can someone point me in the right direction please !

Usually its the venue or local promoter me thinks... at least in the USA, saw some horrific support acts there in Detroit and Chicago during the tour in 1999. Am sure they were not the bands choice http://www.demo3w.com/ubb/smile.gif

i went to lol3 in perth (australia) and there was no support band, doors opened at 8 and the band didnt come on till 10.30 or there abouts! (it was at a small venue) a lot of people were just sitting on the dance floor gettin a bit agro, but as soon as the boys hit the stage it was awesome! they didnt need a support band to warm up the crowd! http://www.demo3w.com/ubb/smile.gif although it would have the made the wait more bearable!

The Bloodfire Posse got the whole of Wembley on its feet in 86 Rat in the kitchen tour...they were well wicked.
Simply Red were also very good at Brixton in 85...but i`m not really a fan of them.
St Andrews was memorable for the diverse bands they had that day ..Robert Palmer..The Pogues...Rankin Roger(ex Beat and well cool) and an Asian band called Alaap...i think ???
For LOL 2 the support was " And why not" i think but i`m not sure because i also think i saw them with Aswad at Cambridge ????????
Cant remember many of the bands at Finsbury Pk apart from the Farm....ALCOHOLIC after noon you see, laying on the park drinking Crucial Brew...ah memories
Finally i remember Winston Reedy and hard rock on LOL tour ...Where are they now...any idea BT ???...by the way was`nt the two lads on LOL3 tour the B15 project ????
