Default The Grand National

Anyone fancy having a cybernet sweep for the Grand National for Fun.

I'll find out who's running in the National.
We can each pick 1 horse we fancy
And see which one of us wins

It's optional if you wanna go in the bookies and stick a £1 each way

Grand National 2009
Horses Running.

My Will ...........................Michelle....Nes Age: 9 Weight:11-4
Jockey: Ruby Walsh
Trainer: Paul Nicholls

Has been a grand servant for connections and has won over £300,000 in win and place prize money. Could be suited by Aintree.

Butlers Cabin
Age: 9 Weight:10-13
Jockey:
Trainer: Jonjo ONeill

From a top stable and good recent run at Cheltenham.

Rambling Minster .........................................AaronAge: 11 Weight:10-9
Jockey: James Reveley
Trainer: Keith Reveley

Excellent wins at Cheltenham and Haydock have seen Keith Reveleys charge come in for plenty of market support

Hear The Echo ....................boi.....nicAge: 8 Weight:11-5
Jockey:
Trainer: Mouse Morris

Young horse who won Irish National at Fairyhouse in 2008. Could make up into a leading Aintree candidate

Black Apalachi
Age: 10 Weight:11-5
Jockey:
Trainer: Dessie Hughes

His consistency has seen him run some good races without winning in Ireland but put that right when trouncing the field in the Becher Chase.

State Of Play .......................................nicAge: 9 Weight:11-2
Jockey:
Trainer: Evan Williams

Has won a number of top class races and yet appears to be well treated? Interesting......

Parsons Legacy
Age: 11 Weight:10-12
Jockey:
Trainer: Philip Hobbs

Consistently runs well and has gradually crept up the handicap despite only recording two wins in handicaps in four years.

Lami .......................................nicAge: 10 Weight:10-11
Jockey:
Trainer: Enda Bolger

One of the grand national horses to have taken part in the last two races. Now trained by Enda Bolger.

Comply Or Die...............kazzy.....CJP24 Age: 10 Weight:11-6
Jockey: Timmy Murphy
Trainer: David Pipe

Likely to have a bit more weight but the style of this horses win in last years Grand National suggests he will be a threat to all.

Kilbeggan Blade ................DubgalAge: 10 Weight:10-7
Jockey: Graham Lee
Trainer: Tom George

Three wins so far in 08/09 and has plenty of stamina

Darkness
Age: 10 Weight:10-9
Jockey:
Trainer: Charlie Egerton

Difficult horse to train but loads of ability

Big Fella Thanks ............................kath horse Age: 7 Weight:11-1
Jockey: Christian Williams
Trainer: Paul Nicholls

Barber/Findlay owned and Nicholls trained - bookmakers beware!

Snowy Morning
Age: 9 Weight:11-8
Jockey:
Trainer: Willie Mullins

Could well improve on last year's good showing if lining up amongst the grand national horses and although that is a doubt his trainer is renowned for changing his mind!

Southern Vic
Age: 10 Weight:10-9
Jockey:
Trainer: Ted Walsh

Connections have won the National before and this horse has always had a touch of class

Irish Invader ..........................................JENAge: 8 Weight:10-9
Jockey:
Trainer: Willie Mullins

Has been running over shorter distance but likely to stay well

Maljimar
Age: 9 Weight:10-4
Jockey: Daryl Jacob
Trainer: Nick Williams

Hard to imagine he would have the required stamina for this

Cornish Sett
Age: 10 Weight:10-10
Jockey: Nick Scholfield
Trainer: Paul Nicholls

Has shown improved form since a wind operation and looks to be an outsider with a good chance

Himalayan Trail
Age: 10 Weight:10-6
Jockey:
Trainer: James Mangan

Proved stamina when winning over 4 miles at Uttoxeter. Needs some more experience but a very interesting contender.

Cloudy Lane
Age: 9 Weight:11-10
Jockey:
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr

Likely to have loads more weight for 2009 but stable could focus him exclusively at this race.

Battlecry .............................carolanneAge: 8 Weight:10-10
Jockey: Tom Scudamore
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies

Has age on his side and loads of stamina in his pedigree. He could really enjoy this.

Offshore Account
Age: 9 Weight:10-13
Jockey:
Trainer: Charlie Swan

Just one outing since December 07 - a risky proposition?

Brooklyn Brownie
Age: 10 Weight:10-6
Jockey: Phil Kinsella
Trainer: Malcolm Jefferson

Could surprise and trainer is very shrewd

Silver Birch ..................................LesAge: 12 Weight:11-0
Jockey:
Trainer: Gordon Elliott

Aintree hero in 2007 will be attempting to get back to full fitness for the 2009 race.

Chelsea Harbour..........................jackie horse Age: 9 Weight:11-8
Jockey:
Trainer: Thomas Mullins

Can have difficulties with jumping but when he gets it right he is a hard horse to catch.

Mon Mome
Age: 9 Weight:11-0
Jockey:
Trainer: Venetia Williams

Is generally a good jumper and has a proven record over this distance.

Cant Buy Time ...........................kezzaAge: 7 Weight:10-9
Jockey:
Trainer: Jonjo ONeill

Rising up the weights but has the handicapper caught up with him yet?

Golden Flight ................kath........NesAge: 10 Weight:10-11
Jockey:
Trainer: Nicky Henderson

Nicky Henderson is very impressed with his recent French import. His class suggests he should not be this price.

Idle Talk
Age: 10 Weight:10-5
Jockey: Brian Harding
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr

Doesnt jump as well as yards former winner Red Rum. If he completes he could come close but big IF.

Knowhere ...............................margAge: 11 Weight:11-7
Jockey: Paddy Brennan
Trainer: Nigel Twiston Davies

If he takes to the fences better this year who knows?

Preists Leap
Age: 9 Weight:11-5
Jockey:
Trainer: Thomas OLeary

Knows how to win big races. Would love some rain at Aintree.

Musica Bella .......................Boi.........nicAge: 9 Weight:10-10
Jockey: Philip Carberry
Trainer: Francois Cottin

he wouldn't be this price if this race was in France - sadly for him its in Liverpool!

Companero
Age: 9 Weight:10-3
Jockey:
Trainer: J Howard Johnson

Obviously talented but very few miles on the clock - may need less of a test.

Pomme Tiepy .................................Luci Age: 6 Weight:10-3
Jockey:
Trainer: Willie Mullins

Went off 2nd favourite for last years Sun Alliance Chase so must be respected

Zabenz
Age: 12 Weight:10-5
Jockey:
Trainer: Philip Hobbs

Hasn't won many but always seems to get placed. Has been off the track for a long time though.

Ollie Magern
Age: 11 Weight:11-6
Jockey: Mr Sam Waley-Cohen
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies

A good 11 year old bay gelding who will run up with the pace and could lead for a while.

Fundamentalist
Age: 11 Weight:10-11
Jockey: David England
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies

At 11 he should be at his best but that looks a bit short of winning the Grand National and others have more appeal.

Iron Man ........................................ElaineAge: 8 Weight:10-3
Jockey:
Trainer: Peter Bowen

Hails from a top yard who have gone close before in this race.

Stan .................................................. ....HelenaAge: 10 Weight:11-6
Jockey:
Trainer: Venetia Williams

Seems to love a top track and a big crowd - he could be in his element!

Reveillez
Age: 10 Weight:10-12
Jockey:
Trainer: Jonjo ONeill

One of six entries for JP McManus - is this the one for the money?

Fleet Street
Age: 10 Weight:10-10
Jockey:
Trainer: Nicky Henderson

A sound jumper who could be involved for a long way

Kelami
Age: 11 Weight:10-5
Jockey: Derek Laverty
Trainer: Lisa Williamson

A good horse and running off a good weight.

Arteea ....................................nicAge: 10 Weight:10-5
Jockey:
Trainer: David Pipe

Very hard to fancy

Niche Market
Age: 8 Weight:10-3
Jockey: Harry Skelton
Trainer: Bob Buckler

Very promising chaser - one for the notebooks whatever happens here

Eurotrek
Age: 13 Weight:11-3
Jockey: Sam Thomas
Trainer: Paul Nicholls

Looked unlucky in 2007 - can he make amends?

Mattock Ranger..................................skirge Age: 9 Weight:10-3
Jockey:
Trainer: Noel Meade

Not in very good form at present

Cerium
Age: 8 Weight:10-5
Jockey: Richard McGrath
Trainer: Paul Murphy

Highly likely to go off the outsider of the whole field
