Roll On 2014

Well they say 13 is unlucky for some and that certainly seems to be the case.In the early hours of new year's day my 88 year old mother was rushed into hospital for a major operation.On top of that my wife,oldest daughter and myself have all had health scares this year.I know other loonies have similar tales of woe to tell.

The UBs have had no end of problems with health issues and Astrogate.Through sheer bad luck they've probably had to call off more gigs than in the rest of their career combined will all the disappointment and inconvenience these things imply for loonies.

So let me be the first to wish UB40 and all loonies all the very best for the new year.We deserve it.Can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

As for UB40, you're right, they've had no end of problems and disappointments. These are things that are very public. We just saw the latest video with Jimmy and Robin apologizing for the cancellations. They looked really down to no end. I feel for them. It's been a rough year and an especially rough week or so. I wonder if they are feeling/worrying they may even lose their audience with all the drama. Things have to start looking up once again and they will in time. Like I said before, we sticking with them. Hoping too for better times in 2014. Let the UB40 reggae train keep coming through the rest of this year and in a big way in 2014 and beyond.

Yes Tom it's been a bad year for UBs ... Earl loosing his wife to a brain haemorrhage in January.
The cancelled gigs.
Duncan breaking his ribs.
More cancelled gigs.
Normie been unwell.
Astro leaving.
Duncan losing his voice.
Another cancelled gig.
Hopefully next year will be so much better for all the band.
On a personal note,
I lost my dear aunty in May, to skin cancer
Now a friend has secondary cancer a year after her 1st diagnosis, she has her op this Saturday

I completely agree Tom. What a crap year its been for most people I know, including my family. The only thing that I try to remember is that I'm still lucky enough to wake up every morning, and most of my loved ones are too (some not so healthy, but still here). The tough stuff that's been thrown my way is just to test me...or so I keep telling myself.

Hugging my kid, drinking wine and blaring great music help. ALOT.
