It just struck me how many important figures in Jamaican music have died over the past three years. Some are better known than others but each played their part:

Gregory Isaacs
Sugar Minott
Joe Gibbs
Roy Shirley
Sonia Pottinger
Lynn Taitt
Glen Adams

To be fair, obituaries appear in papers such as The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Independent, even the lesser known artists. But if you don't read papers that often, this stuff can pass you by. It's poignant that you can be listening to artists for years, enjoying their music but knowing very little about them.
