What does Baggariddim mean? - Page 3

I remember having a chat with Jimmy at his Star Company gig at the Custard factory regards 'Council House', a superb instrumental track from 93, very revolutionary (considering the UB's were in the media portrayed as one dimensional and never deviating away from reggae). For the record, pretty much any band who find their feet in a genre have stuck to what they know in order to do what they do best so I've never understood this argument. Of course, albums such as Baggaridim or the Dancehall album never get a mention in the media.

I can remember council house being part of the set during the lol 2 tour, if I remember rightly it followed on from j2b

Simply put....bag of rhythm. I proudly take my name from that amazing album, which is chock full of classic UB riddims and fantastic chatting on the mic from top ranking UK DJ's of the time period, not to mention Astro's wonderful "Mi Spliff" which we all know and love. Only an EP was released in the states when it first came there---Little Baggariddim. Had to go to a reggae shop to get the full version of Baggariddim before they finally released it in the mainstream stores and always felt it should be considered one of their finest efforts.

Baggariddim is an excellent release and showcased some fine young talent of the era, of course Pato Banton went on to international fame. The Dancehall LP and the Fathers Album were great too!
I wonder if UB40 will ever work on anything like that again, maybe featuring some of todays big names in reggae?

dead right FT, apologies, I put 93 when of course it was from the LOL2 era, I'd originally put down Chronic but changed it last minute but clearly not the year of release.
