Forget Sky News ...... you heard it here first ....! On a serious note though, it is such a shame.

you know..as sad as it is..it doesn't surprise me.
she was always "unstable" and those concerts a few weeks ago proved she was once again off her head on drink and drugs. its tragic... she could have had so much with her talent and yet she chose to go down a path of self destruction.

that's a shock.
my first reaction is, she should never have been trying to put a tour together. She obviously wasn't ready. I wonder how much pressure she was under to tour.? My guess is she has probably signed a '360' deal, which means the record company also owns it's share of live revenue. And, as we know, live is where all the money is. Amy was a great recording artist, no doubt about that. But she never looked very comfortable on stage. Her voice wasn't strong enough to front a band that way. She was better in a small venue with just a piano or guitar for backing. But the demands of the pop business meant that she was expected to do the arena touring thing. I saw several live performances on TV and they were all terrible. put yourself in her position and she must have been dreading going on stage every night. It must have been hanging over her head like a death sentence. Imagine having to confront 20,000 people all expecting her to deliver a performance she was obviously incapable of doing. From that perspective hiding in drink and drugs was her only way out. puts me in mind of micheal jackson. His agent booked 40 shows at the london O2, without asking him. The next day he was dead. it's a cruel business. I bet the record company will make a fortune from this. |

I'm absolutely gutted. What a waste of such a great talent. I remember saying about two years ago that she would die young. She was a fantastic singer, and an equally good songwriter, both musically and lyrically. She was obviously very troubled and quite clearly needed help in some way, but she must not have wanted to be helped.
RIP Amy. |
