Default Doktor X's Christmas message

(Warning: Another deep one.)

Where does Christmas originate from? From the Play Station or toy shop? No, not quite either of 'em. who grows up to perform miracles, is crucified and is reborn....in many cases they are also born on 25th December. Here's a list:

Buddha/Krishna/Indra- India
Shango/Nommo - Nigeria and Mali
Horus/Osiris- Egypt
Hercules/Apollo- Greece
Hesus- Druid
Quetzalcoatl- Mexico
Odin- Scandinavia
Bali- Afghanistan
Mithra/Zoroaster- Iran
Chu Chulainn- Ireland.......and HUNDREDS more other ones

Remember that Wizzard song "I wish it could be Christmas every day"?...well, with all of the above, I guess it COULD BE....

So why is the 25th of December is chosen? 'cos from the 21st to the 24th of December it's the winter solstice where the sun is at its weakest...on the 25th it begins moving again, i.e the sun/Son is (re)born.

all the celeberations we have at that time of year come from ancient mid-winter festivals, especially one called Saturnalia (i.e connected with the planet Saturn)....but a lot of the church festivals come from BEFORE Christianity....Easter is an anagram of the middle eastern goddess Astarte, the goddess of fertility (that's where we get the eggs and "easter bunny" symbols from

Am not totally sure where "Santa" fits into all that, however, there's some folks who've got a bit of a downer on the ol' Crimbo bit and say that "santa" is an anagram for somone that lives "down there".......
