Extra payment for working Boxing Day Dean. They only get a flat day's pay now. You've already said you think they should get double time yourself.

Come the revolution they won't dare go on strike on The Zupreme Leader's birthday or they'll be banished to Redditch forever to live in a workers gulag

ASLEF - Underground action on Boxing Day
ASLEF did the same last year. Thye recommended the original deal to their members who accepted it. Not sure why Boxing day is any different to any other bank holiday.

As a child, I loved that my daddy got to be home and that the shops were closed from Christmas Eve until Jan 3. It was a special.

I reckon everyone should have a holiday on stat days such as Christmas and Easter, even pagans although, it really is their day anyway! There are going to be exceptions such as hospital staff but if they draw the short straw, they're on triple pay that doesn't get taxed so heavily. I worked a New Years Day and was taxed so heavily that I took home less than I would have for working a normal weekend day.

ANZAC day is another day when no one should work and I boycott any shop that opens on ANZAC day.

working hours have changed greatly since the late 80s early 90s Sunday was always double time and when Sunday trading first started double pay was given but eventually Sunday just became another working day so the rate of pay lowered not just in retail but in other fields where a Sunday would have been much needed double paid overtime, now usually the only time you get enhanced pay is on a bank holiday and often it's only time and a half or even time and a quarter
days like Xmas and boxing day should be about family, I'm working Xmas eve, Xmas day, new years eve and new years day, the type of work I do is needed 365 days a year 24/7 that's my professional choice and what I love doing, but transport workers should have the time off, or at least have the work on those days reflected, after all for a handful of days the running of public transport isn't really vital Sunday/ bank holiday services should suffice .

i've had an inspired idea, in case we have to punish comrade tom one day.

because welsh people have one leg shorter than the other [from standing around on hills all day, like goats], we can banish him to the flat lands of east anglia.

and if he's really bad, we can banish him to holland.
