I loved all music growing up, but my pre-ub40 days I loved Jimmy Cliff, he is the soul person who got me into reggae, then Bob Marley. I have been a UB fan since signing off and they have been my favorite ever since I saw them play in Boston way way back.

I had them on vinyl too. I don't confess that very often, but I wasn't what you'd call a 'fan' as such.

If anyone had dressed like that in these parts they wouldn't have got more than 5 yards from their front door without getting a kicking.

Good thread Tom. Thx.
Well, after I got over the Partridge Family, I admittedly didn't become a Reggae Fan until the late 70's, maybe early 80's. The UB's and reggae in particular were introduced to me by my brother who, while on a cricket tour in the Caribbean, brought back some albums (black things with a hole in the middle) and that was it....hooked.

Interesting perhaps but I tended to like the female voices of a fairly wide variety of Genres, some artists familiar, some maybe not so much.

Taylor Dayne, Amanda Marshall, Melissa Ethridge, Sass Jordan, even Carole King in my younger "folkish" years. Alison Krauss and Cat Stevens would be included in my folkie, even bluegrass years, some "lighter" metal, Sabbath, Styx and Floyd in high school......

So there ya go. All over the map but ironically never a big fan of country and that's a little ironic considering where I've grown up most of my life....I just don't get it.

Sorry, what was the question?

Bob Marley and The Wailers.

There were the usual embarrassing pre-teen bands and I even had a Wombles album!
