I know people probably want to do things sooner, but it might be better to have a set date to plan things for. Raise awareness in the time leading up to it, have a cuple of little events, and make the fanfest weekend the big event.

Just an idea ...

And maybe people who can't go to the fanfest (like me) they could still donate towards the weekend.

You can always put in a donation, doesnt have to be at a fixed time (but while we are fundraising it would be nice ) but great idea Trudie...will take it to the planning tables!

Very good idea, will make a donation also because I can't make it either. But noticed Orange babies is a sponsor for Hope Village so decided to become a "donateur don't know the right English word. There is also a Dutch shoe shop who is sponsoring Hope Village :

Brilliant! As long as it's helping Hope Village, it doesn't matter where the donation goes

Trudie i think the fest would be a great time to raise money. As has been said people are more likely to give with a few drinks in them. Obviously thats not to say there shouldn't still be the auction, chatathon and things on here as many won't be able to make the fest.

Just got in from college. I'll get the Facebook page up and running as soon as I have a moment.

As for an auction, I think this is a great idea. I would be happy to donate some of my work to be auctioned. For those of you that don't know I am a potter and jeweller.

Does anyone have any ideas/experience of how to run an auction? I agree the Fest is probably the best venue.

garage sale, yard sale with some (or all, or any) proceeds going to the cause. It's usually stuff you don't need anyway but if you can get a few bucks, quid, pesos, lire, rand, gilders (?)...ya know.

Just have to wait a couple of months for the thaw over here then I'll do that.
