Guys, I really don't think it would be feasible for Marietjie to register on a site like Just Giving. It costs charities £15 a month to be registered on there, and I should think they'd need to have an official registered charity number.

£15 a month is around $168 (Namibian) ...

I don't mind doing a slot on the chatathon. I'm assuming it will be a while yet before its all set up as I just could'nt give an ounce of my time if it was in the next couple of weeks as we're on the move next week (house sold, homeless and staying with daughters to be precise!!!). Anyway, if I can fill a slot then I'd be more than happy to help out

Yes, I looked at that one too ...

To register with Virgin Money Giving, your charity should be registered for Gift Aid with HMRC Charities. It must also be registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales, and/or the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, unless your charity is exempt.

Virgin Money Giving is open to charities from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

What you’ll need to do

To start registering your charity, we’ll just need your charity’s name, registered number and address, along with your contact details.

We’ll also ask you to create a password – you can then sign into your charity’s Virgin Money Giving account whenever you like, and complete the next steps when you’re ready.

Virgin Money Giving will reclaim Gift Aid on behalf of your charity, and donations will be paid into your charity’s bank account. So we can do this, you’ll need to complete and return some forms to us – we’ll email them to you when you register.

Before we can start collecting donations, we also ask all charities for a one off set-up fee of £100 + VAT. Click here for full details of our fees.

It's a great idea ... It'd be so much easier to collect and donate the money .. But I just don't know if Hope Village would want to spend the money on registering, and even if it would be possible for them to register ...

The money will just have to be paid into their account ... And that means having to make someone here responsible for it all ...

That's a BIG responsibility for whomever takes it on.

Not easy is it?

I can hear what you are saying...its not easy raising money for charities, before you even start raising funds it takes a great deal of effort behind the scenes, what at first can appear a simple task has many obstacles. I have to say though, well done guys...its wonderful that you have decided to do something but don't rush, take your time and do it the best you can, its not a race..and every penny, every donation no matter how small will count and make a difference..Ive been told The Birmingham Evening mail have run an article about it in todays paper, we didn't do an interview they simply heard about you guys, researched here on the BB and went with it..then they called and I did a follow up interview this afternoon for tomorrow's edition I believe..
